Six15 Technologies and Help Lightning Announce the ST1-RA, Plug-and-Play Augmented Reality Remote Assistance For Field Technicians

Field technicians can now work with remote product support experts to virtually interact in real-time within a technician's field of view.

Henrietta, NY (October 14, 2022) – Today, Six15 Technologies, in partnership with Help Lightning, is launching the world’s first industrial plug-and-play head-up augmented reality (AR) remote assistance solution for field technicians.
Often, field technicians need help from product support experts who are seldom on site but need to see the problem in real-time to help technicians with a solution. The two types of remote assist solutions used today either utilize specialized hardware and software or are an app on a smart device. While both work, the former requires significant investments to implement, and the latter is not hands-free, making it challenging to use in many situations.

With field equipment becoming ever more complex and product support experts in short supply, the need to efficiently support field technicians is increasing exponentially.

ST1-RA provides plug-and-play convenience for field technicians to add hands-free AR remote assistance to their existing Android smart devices. No more fumbling with one hand holding the smart device, pointing at the problem, and the other hand trying to follow instructions. With the ST1-RA’s built-in camera, the remote product support expert sees what the technician sees in real-time. The technician, in turn, sees the expert’s hand in their field of view, instructing them through the problem. This immersive approach transforms how field technicians and product experts collaborate — solving problems much faster.

Our goal with ST1-RA was to provide field technicians with a simple tool to collaborate with their colleagues without the tool getting in their way or negatively impacting workflows; we achieved that,” said Rich Ryan, CEO of Six15 Technologies. “There are tens of AR solutions in the market today, but unlike ST1-RA, none is purpose-built for simplicity, utility, and rugged use.”

Help Lightning is about getting more done by not letting technology get in the way,” says Marc Guthrie, CEO of Help Lightning. “With the ST1-RA HUD and our Help Lightning remote assist platform, we have a unique solution for millions of field technicians who use Android devices daily.
